On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, Antigonish Town Council gave First Reading to a new Parking By-Law.
The purpose of this Parking By-law is to regulate the use of public streets, highways, and Town-owned or operated parking facilities within the Town of Antigonish. It establishes rules for metered parking, payment methods, time limits, electric vehicle charging spaces, seasonal and winter parking restrictions, and enforcement measures to ensure safe, efficient, and fair use of parking resources while supporting traffic flow and public safety.
The Town intends to consider, and if deemed appropriate, give second and final reading to adopt the Parking By-Law at the next regular council meeting on January 19, 2026.
The By-Law can be reviewed here: pdf Parking By-Law(279 KB)
Copies of the By-Law can also be picked up at the front counter of Town Hall at 274 Main Street, Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
