The Town of Antigonish is thrilled to celebrate the unveiling of the Town’s newest mural, created by talented artist Qi Cai.This vibrant piece honours the 100th anniversary of the Town’s Electric Utility.

The mural has three layers:

• The first layer is the present: green energy, local farming, and the beautiful nature around us.
• The second layer is the past: the historic buildings and landmarks that shaped the identity of this Town.
• And the third layer is the future: the growing Town behind it.

“My hope is that even as the Town grows, it will always stay colorful, green, and connected to nature, because that balance is what makes this place special. But none of this would be here without that giant lightbulb. So it’s also a thank you to Antigonish Electric Utility for a hundred years of quietly helping this town shine," says artist Qi Chai

"For 100 years, this utility has powered our homes, our businesses, and our growth. It’s woven into the story of who we are as a community." says Deputy Mayor Andrew Murray. "Today, we are one of only five municipally owned electric utilities in Nova Scotia. That’s something we take great pride in."

The mural will be installed at 9 Main Street in the coming weeks—be sure to keep an eye out for it and enjoy this meaningful addition to our public art landscape.
